You Only Regret the Pictures You Don't Take of Your Kids

Owning my own photography studio can be really hard for so many reasons. One thing I struggle with is balancing motherhood and my business. I have 3 amazing boys and they all have different schedules and needs. My oldest is about to graduate high school so planning his college future is a job in of itself. My middle son is graduating 8th grade this year and that’s a huge milestone as well. My baby plays on a competitive hockey team that travels around the tri-state area for weekend games along with tournaments that are much farther away. I am constantly being pulled in one direction or another and that’s hard on my photography schedule.

First and foremost, I am a mom and that’s the most important thing in my life. I try to schedule every session around their busy lives because I don’t want to miss anything. That’s not always easy but I try my best to make it work.

When my oldest was first born people would tell me that in the blink of an eye they grow up and in my sleep-deprived state of mind I didn’t believe them. Well, I can tell you that it’s absolutely true. Enjoy every minute with your children. Capture their every milestone. Photograph everything! Keep those memories forever.

Portraits can be a big investment but one that you will never regret. I have a new product that I am offering for the holidays. It’s a beveled mounted 8x10 print that is displayed on a decorative easel. These prints are so great because it allows you to change the picture throughout the year to coordinate with that time of year. In December you would display your favorite holiday picture. February would get a Valentine's Day pic. March/April would be a springtime or Easter print. May would get a Mommy and Me print. June would be Dad and Me and the list goes on and on. As a mom of an almost 18-year old, I can’t stress enough the importance of photographing those memories and milestones.

Here is a pic of my baby at his recent hockey tournament in New Hampshire. His team won the championship and I am so glad I was there to see it.
